Sustainable Salons announce partnership with KiwiHarvest

Founded in 2015 by Paul Frasca and Ewelina Soroko, Sustainable Salons is Australia’s first comprehensive resource recovery service for salon environment, that reduces waste to landfill, rewards its salon members, and gives back to the community at the same time.

In the past three years, Sustainable Salons has grown to service hundreds of salons across Australia, collecting up to 95 percent of the salon waste bin for reuse, recycling, or repurposing. Using their in-salon bins, they collect paper, plastics, metals like aluminium foils, hair (including ponytails for making wigs), chemicals, razors, tools, and more.

Not only are all these resources saved from landfill, many of them generate a profit when repurposed or sold for recycling, the proceeds of which are all donated to OzHarvest to help them fight food waste and food insecurity.

Last night, Sustainable Salons officially made the leap across the ditch, launching their new trans-Tasman operation at Servilles Academy in Auckland.

We are delighted that Sustainable Salons have chosen to continue supporting the food rescue mission in New Zealand by partnering with KiwiHarvest, to help us save more food from going to landfill and provide more nourishment to people in need.

We’re excited to be working alongside another awesome organisation helping to create a zero waste culture in business, and can’t wait to see what Sustainable Salons can achieve in NZ!
