VOLUNTEER WITH US

Our small team couldn’t possibly achieve what we do without the time, effort, enthusiasm, and ingenuity of our family of inspiring volunteers.

Volunteers help our team on the front line, collecting, sorting, and delivering food, as well as in a number of other roles behind the scenes. If you would like to get involved in food rescue at any of our locations, whether helping us pack food in the warehouse, or if you have other skills to offer, please say hello!

A COUPLE OF THINGS TO NOTE

  • Volunteering in our warehouse can be very physical work. You’ll be moving, packing, unpacking and stacking pallets of food - it’s guaranteed to be a great workout!

  • Make sure to wear comfortable (workout) clothes and covered shoes. Sneakers are best.

  • We have set days and hours available for volunteering in the warehouse, or (if you can commit the time) you can volunteer for a full day supporting one of our drivers on their daily runs. We have many regulars, but are always looking for more

  • Check out our Volunteer Handbook Here!

corporate volunteer groups

We are able to take corporate groups (up to eight people) at our Auckland Branch in East Tamaki. We have morning shifts available, several days a week for approximately 2 – 3 hours.

volunteer as a food rescue van assistant

Each of our five branches use the help of Van Assistants when out on the road. These awesome helpers make the job of collecting and distributing rescued food way more efficient as well as fun! Van Assistants help out Mon-Fri and usually 7:30am - 3pm (hours may differ per branch).

You will help make a tangible difference to communities struggling with food insecurity and contribute to reducing food waste, with your own two hands!

If this sounds like a bit of you then please get in touch to find out more at volunteer@kiwiharvest.org.nz

Volunteer with friends and family

We have many small groups of regular volunteers, mostly friends who enjoy getting together to make a difference. Many of our regulars end up supporting us with other work, as they become more familiar with our procedures.

Volunteer to raise money

Some volunteers choose to get involved in a fundraising capacity - such as by organising their own raffles or events to raise money for KiwiHarvest.
